Quite often, I get asked about what I write about each week. And I always give people the same type of response. I tell them that I write four to six blogs a day on a variety of topics. Those topics may range from health and wellness to personal finance, dental care, dating, family, and more. But the truth is, the content I write varies from day to day and week to week.

So, I decided to document a week in the life of Copywriting For You so you can see what I wrote about. And you can learn more about what this past week looked like for me in this video

Why Variety Matters for Content Writers

If you write the same thing day after day, it might get boring. Plus, it can be hard to write on the same topic and keep coming up with original content day in and day out. That’s why I love the variety and flexibility that I see every week in the work that comes in from my clients.

Sure, I have a steady stream of work coming in from the same clients each week, but I do add new clients quite often. Some are looking for a single article and others turn into long-term writing relationships. Either way, the variety that they provide helps me to keep the words flowing. And, it totally satisfies my craving to learn new things every day.

Writing 5,000+ Words Per Day

Here’s the thing. On a typical day, I write about 5,000 words. As I said above, that translates to about four to six blogs per day. And for me, to keep the words flowing, I need to change up the content that I am working on.

If you’ve been following my blog, you know that I have a revenue target to hit each day. That revenue target ties back to that goal of 5,000 words per day. But that’s not the only thing I do to decide what I’m working on. Here are the things I consider.

What deadlines are coming up?

I aim to turn around client work in seven days or less with few exceptions. So, I meticulously scrutinize the clients I take on and the type of work I do. This helps me deliver on time (if not early) and keeps clients happy and ready to assign more work. And when that work keeps coming in, I don’t have to spend quite as much time on lead generation—though it remains a daily task.

What am I feeling inspired to write?

I always keep a composition notebook with me, where I document the assignments that are coming in. This is like a safety net for me to ensure I don’t miss any requests. I review the notebook daily to help organize my day and see what topics resonate. Those that do are likely to make it on that day’s list.

Can I learn something new?

Last but not least, I try to pick at least one topic per day that puts me slightly out of my comfort zone. For me, that might be something in the dating space—which is a bit ironic since I dedicated an entire chapter in my new book to dating. I often take on a technology-related topic, something in real estate or home repair, that I tend to write about a lot, but I am not an expert in. The research teaches me something new, and I come out smarter after writing the article. Plus, never underestimate how much you can learn from your clients.

So, What Did I Write This Past Week?

And without further ado, let me provide more insight into the articles I wrote this past week. To protect my clients and the ghost-writing nature of our relationship, I’ll stick to the topics and won’t provide the titles or who the clients are.
