If you’re a writer or entrepreneur, it’s easy to fall into the trap of relying solely on social media to get the word out about your work. But here’s the thing—while social media is great, it’s not the only way (or even the best way) to connect with people who truly want to engage with what you’re offering. If you want to know one of the best ways for promoting your business, know that real, in-person connections at events, book fairs, and festivals can take your business to the next level, helping you build relationships that last far beyond a like or a follow.

That’s exactly why I make it a priority to attend events where I can not only sell my books but also share what I do as a writer and copywriter. I love getting the chance to talk to readers, writers, and fellow entrepreneurs face-to-face. So, if you’re looking for a way to get your work noticed, events like these are worth checking out—whether you’re attending or participating!

Finding the Right Events for Promoting Your Business

Searching for the right events to participate in can take time. There are book festivals, community expos, business fairs, and niche events, all with different audiences and expectations. It can feel overwhelming at first, but the key is to start somewhere. Sign up for a few, see what the crowd is like, and take notes on what works and what doesn’t. Some events might be a perfect fit, bringing in readers who love your work or business owners who need your expertise. Others might not be as great, and that’s okay! It’s all part of the learning process. The more events you try, the better you’ll get at spotting the ones that align with your goals.

For me, it’s a mix of book-focused festivals and business events. I love talking about writing, blogging, and how words can transform a business, so I look for opportunities where I can do both. If you’re an author or entrepreneur trying to grow your audience, give in-person events a try—you might be surprised at how much they can help you connect with the right people.

Here’s where I’ll be in the next few months:

Rosemount Writers Festival – March 15, 2025

This is more than just a book sale for me—I’m also hosting a workshop on how to write and promote an SEO-optimized blog for your author website. Blogging is a powerful tool for getting your name out there, building authority, and growing your audience. I’ll be breaking down exactly how to make your blog work for you, so if you’re an author looking to step up your online presence, this is the workshop for you! Come find me at table 48 at the Rosemount Writers Festival!

DSM Book Festival – March 22, 2025

I’ll be in Des Moines, IA, at the Franklin Event Center for the DSM Book Festival with signed copies of my books. This festival is an incredible way to connect with fellow book lovers, discover new reads, and chat about all things writing. If you’re in the area, stop by and say hello!

Entrepreneur Fair – April 2, 2025

If you’re interested in starting or growing a business, you’ll want to check out the Entrepreneur Fair at the Eagan Community Center. I’ll be there at 4 PM, sharing insights about copywriting, blogging, and how the right words can make all the difference for your brand. Plus, I’ll have my books available for anyone who wants to purchase a signed copy!

Woodbury Community Expo – April 5, 2025

On April 5th, I’ll be at Woodbury High School from 10 AM to 3 PM, surrounded by local businesses and community members for the Woodbury, MN Community Expo. If you love supporting local authors and small businesses, this is the perfect event to attend. I’ll be talking about writing, storytelling, and how words can make an impact in any industry.

Pack in the Readers – June 13-15, 2025

Pack in the Readers in Green Bay, WI, is all about books! If you love reading, this is one to add to your calendar. I’ll be at the KI Convention Center for the weekend, meeting readers, signing books, and chatting about all things storytelling.

Let’s Connect!

If you’re planning to attend any of these events, I’d love to see you there. Meeting people in person and talking about writing, books, and business is one of my favorite things to do. If you’ve been thinking about how to take your own writing or business to the next level, attending events like these might just be the inspiration you need!

Let me know in the comments if you’ll be stopping by, and if you can’t make it, be sure to check out my author page for more info on how to order your own copies of my books—I’ll be sharing all the fun along the way!
