PERSEVERANCE. REINVENTION.: Losing It All to Gain ….
Schreiber, Ann

The day has finally come—my first book, Perseverance. Reinvention.—is available for sale on Amazon. I’ll be honest, it was a bit nerve-wracking in the days leading up to the release. And, those nerves really haven’t subsided.

As I lay on the pillow at night, waiting for sleep to come (something that doesn’t come easily for your resident insomniac), so many thoughts come to mind. Will my readers love it? Did I share enough detail for readers to understand my journey? Did I share too much? Was it worth the effort?

But ultimately, as I shared on the back cover of the book, I wrote because it helped me. And I want it to help others, too.

The Writing Process: Baring My Soul

In the initial iterations of the early chapters of Perseverance, Reinvention, I literally laid it all out on the table. I bared my soul and told the world—or at least intended to tell the world—about all the things I had experienced in my first marriage. It was indeed a cathartic process. In fact, writing can be a healing process for many.

Writing is not just for authors or aspiring novelists; it’s for everyone. Even if you never plan to share your words with another soul, writing can be incredibly beneficial. Here’s why:

  • Makes You Happier: Writing about positive experiences can enhance your mood and overall sense of well-being. Reflecting on the good moments helps to solidify them in your memory, making you happier over time.
  • Helps you Persevere Through Tough Times: When life throws curveballs, writing can serve as a powerful coping mechanism. It allows you to process emotions, gain clarity, and find solutions to problems. Journaling during challenging times can provide a much-needed outlet for your thoughts and feelings.
  • Grows Gratitude: Regularly jotting down things you’re thankful for can shift your focus from what’s lacking in your life to what’s abundant. This practice can significantly improve your outlook and satisfaction.
  • Lets You Learn and Grow: Writing encourages you to delve into your thoughts and experiences, fostering a deeper understanding of yourself and your surroundings. It can be a journey of self-discovery, helping you learn new things about who you are and what you value.
  • Builds Creativity: The more you write, the more your creativity flourishes. Writing exercises your imagination and helps you think outside the box, which can be beneficial in all areas of life.

So, even though I decided that, ultimately, the final version of my book would not go as deep into the specifics of my experiences, I instead turned this book into a reflection journal that readers can use to document their own experiences with persevering through the tough times.
